CHEESE IS THE MAN

Waterlou, TN .

Haiti Auction | Deuce

Our last auction was a success raising over $2600 for the relief in Haiti, thats all kinds of awesome.  We received a ton of requests to do another auction and many photographers asked to donate a print.  The talent out there is so impressive and everyone has been so inspiring that we could not say no.

Everything is basically the same, click the print (or the name above) that you are interested in and bid in the comments of the page.  All comments must be done in the individual page of each print, no exceptions.

The funds raised this time will all go to a single decided upon charity who is helping out in Haiti right now.  This will be done after the auction and all donations will be made in the name of the winners.

We will be adding a couple more photos through out the day so keep a look out for them.  We are extremely inundated with requests from photogs to donate; we are encouraging everyone to organize and do a similar event on your own sites.  One photographer has already done so, go check out the work on her blog as well —> http://erinlassahn.com/blog/?p=1826

If you have any questions please use the contact form to get in touch with one of us or see the auction details page.

Keep up with us and details on our twitter page —>  http://twitter.com/switchcities.com

Thanks

Scotty

two thousand, six hundred, thirty-three.

$2633 US dollars.  That’s what all of ou gave to another person in the world, another community, another country — to people you’ve probably never even met.  And I think that’s lovely.

When we were first starting this, my realistic goal was to raise $200 and my fantasy goal was $500.  That was my wildest dream.  Scotty had bigger plans, I think he thought we could raise $1000. Either way, you’ve blown us all away.

Thank you, on behalf of the people you’ve helped.  And thank you, from all of us.  This was really a labour of love on our part, and your (overwhelming) support means more to us than I know how to describe.

If you’ve won a print, you will be contacted within a few days to arrange payment and mailing information.

Beyond Thankful and Some Questions

A lot of you have been asking questions
Can you donate prints? Will we continue raising money after the auctions? What can you do to help out?
We have tried to reply to all of your emails, and if we have then you heard us say that we are inundated, which is not a bad thing. We never dreamed this would be as successful as it has become. I think we all feel the same, super privileged and humbled to be a part of such an awesome community of people/humanitarians.
So to answer your questions as a whole…

Who is Switch Cities? Switch Cities started as a small group of wedding photographers who wanted a venue to post more of their non-wedding photos.  Its an outlet for our art and a way for us to display something that we find different and unique.

Can you donate prints? You can send all of your submissions to switchcities@gmail.com in jpeg format and 715px wide, although we cannot guarantee your photo will appear in the auctions, we will do our best.  We highly suggest everyone promoting a similar event on your own blog.  We will support all of your efforts and do what we can to make it successful because you have helped us make Switch Cities successful.

Will we continue to raise money after the auctions? No doubt we will.  This is a terribly rewarding and sincere event we have held. Like I said before, we never dreamed to would be this awesome.  We have every intention in giving it everything we had but the support we have received is overwhelming. We are currently working on new and exciting things… some that I can’t announce yet but I promise they will be of epic proportions.

What can you do to help out? Blog, promote, announce, give and/or copy what we are doing.  None of us have taken a percentage of credit for what is happening but we believe that you all have created a small movement across the photography world.  Some of you have said that you dont believe your site gets enough hits to do something like this… well before this past week we averaged 20 hits a day, a little over 100 on a day that we posted, thats not much and is probably average for a lot of you.  We used twitter and our fellow photographers to promote our event, and it may be luck but we created support and a following, we are beyond thankful.

So whats next for Switch Cities? Nothing has been confirmed but I know that what we are talking about is incredible and we hope it will change peoples lives =)

I personally want to thank everyone involved in the bidding, the contributions and the interest; it is completely awe inspiring.  I wont lie, I’ve shed a few tears of the past few days at the success of what is going on.  You are the ones who inspire me.

Feel free to contact us any time a switchcities@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Scotty
